Thanks for an incredible day. Jo and I had so much fun getting to know you on our little tour!! We were lucky to be the only people on the tour, so Patricia picked us up at our accommodation in Shoreham and tailored the tour to include the things we were looking for. We had an absolutely fantastic day. She’s knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and know the people at the wineries we visited which made the experience very personal. her vehicle is clean, comfortable and lots of space for the wine you will purchase. Make sure you go to Foxy’s hangout for the champagne making demonstration. Thanks for making our day very special!!
Just an hour’s drive south of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula features a stunning maritime coastline, and distinguished cool climate wineries.
Our first stop on this winery tour is Foxeys Hangout, where you will experience the wonder of a sparkling wine blending and disgorgement (weekends only) plus learn about the ancient techniques of this wonderful way of making a fabulous sparkling.
Foxeys Hangout is owned and operated by Michael and Tony Lee. The first vineyard was planted in 1997 at Merricks North, near the road junction called Foxeys Hangout. Wines available for tasting are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Shiraz.
After an extensive wine tasting at Foxeys we now head off to Bass & Flinders Distillery.
With many wineries but no distilleries, there was an opportunity to start an artisan distillery. Bass & Flinders Distillery was founded in 2009.
Bass & Flinders Distillery offers a large range of products such as Lemoncello, Grappa, Vodka and uniquely flavoured Gins.
After tasting some interesting spirits at Bass & Flinders Distillery we head to Red Hill Epicurean for sumptious lunch.
Red Hill Epicurean is the result of the renovation of Red Hill’s historic cool stores. Red Hill Epicurean is known as the Mornington Peninsula’s new and exciting foodie destination. The Red Hill Epicurean showcases the finest local foods and the wine of the surrounding winery region. It is has a kitchen style restaurant and an extensive wine tasting area. You can even buy fresh breads and cheeses.
Andy and Sam first established The Long Table in 2003 as a local gem. Their vision was to create a unique dining experience and wine bar, offering exciting dishes and an ambience that reflected their love for wine, food and art.
The Long Table has become a favourite restaurant and wine bar in Red Hill. They offer local foods and an extensive wine list featuring local Mornington Peninsula wines.
Kathleen Quealy and Kevin McCarthy are the Peninsula’s pioneers of Italianesque, including Turbul Friulano fermented in terracotta Amphora, Pinot Grigio & and a super white field blend called Pobblebonk. Taste Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Italian styled white wine & late harvest Muscat; wine that expresses a bond with a culture & terroir. Their innovative viticulture creates ripe structured Pinot Noir & Gris that will impress you with their body & power. Their Rageous is a wonderful blend to be reckoned with.
Award winning winery, Paringa Estate, is our next stop.
Paringa Estate is located in the heart of Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula wine region, with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Gris vines planted.
To complete your tastings, our tour heads to Main Ridge Dairy to sample their delicious cheese and enjoy a coffee.
The gorgeous herd of goats on show here are responsible for the wide range of interesting, handmade goats cheeses at Main Ridge Dairy – the only commercial dairy operating on the Peninsula.
After a day of exquisite wine and regional gourmet food on our wine tour of the Mornington Peninsula , our tour takes you back to Melbourne.
