My husband and I had such a relaxing enjoyable day tasting wine, and chocolate in the Mornington Peninsula region. Patricia our guide was so lovely, relaxed, and insightful and we were completely at ease in her company. We would highly recommend this tour, for the impeccable service, lovely wine and chocolate tasting, and how relaxed and informative it was!
Just an hour’s drive south of Melbourne the Mornington Peninsula features a stunning maritime coastline, and distinguished cool climate wineries.
Your commences with our first tasting at T’Gallant
This artisan winery produces wines which reflect the character of the Peninsula while also expressing its European influences.
T’Gallant is renowned as a pioneer of the cooler climate Pinot Gris. You will enjoy the superb views of their vineyards before our tasting, which may include their Pinot Gris, a Chablis-style Chardonnay or their sparkling Ophelia Pinot Noir Chardonnay, which is made in the traditional Champagne method.
From T’Gallant we drive the scenic route to Merricks Creek – the new kid on the block, (weekends only).
Merricks Creek is a family business. Merricks Creek have grown high quality vines for the last twenty years. This property is magnificent, surrounded by trees, wonderful views and fantastic wines. A little gem on the Mornington Peninsula. On offer are Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
From T’Gallant you take a short drive to our second winery, Ten Minutes by Tractor (weekdays only)
Ten Minutes by Tractor is actually three separate vineyards that are literally ‘ten minutes by tractor’ apart from each other, set amidst the diverse countryside of Main Ridge – a beautiful destination on our Mornington Peninsula wine tours.
At Ten Minutes by Tractor you may be able to taste their superb cooler climate single vineyard wines, or estate wines, including their Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc or their Chardonnays, including their McCutcheon Chardonnay which is described as having a ‘spicy savouriness overlaid with grapefruit, basil and caramel.’
For lunch you head to Merricks General Store, to enjoy a beautiful lunch on their deck (weather permitting) or within this quirky store and cellar door.
Established in 1924 as a community hub, Merricks General Store is now a cellar door featuring wines from Elgee Park, Baillieu & Quealy wines.
At Merricks General Store our sumptious lunch is lovingly prepared with local produce, and you experience the extra delight of a fabulous wine tasting, including very unique names and labels.
After lunch our Mornington Peninsula wine tour continues, tasting wines at Tucks Ridge Estate
Often called Mornington Peninsula’s favourite winery, Tucks Ridge Estate boutique winery has been operating for more than 25 years and is renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
At Tucks Ridge Estate you will enjoy the expansive views of the southern part of the Red Hill countryside before we proceed to the Tucks Ridge estate cellar door for a tasting of their stunning cooler climate wines.
Next on our wine tour itinerary, there is an easy drive to Mornington Peninsula Chocolates for a chocolate tasting and a coffee.
Beautiful wines are one thing, but now it’s chocolate time in picturesque Flinders where you enjoy the wonderful views of Western Port Bay.
Mornington Peninsula Chocolates offer an indulgent, boutique experience, including samples of their finest, handcrafted chocolates ranging from Brazil Coffee, Chilli and Tequila to Vanilla Ganache and many, many more. At Mornington Peninsula Chocolates they use the world’s finest chocolate couverture and local and imported ingredients.
And the best news? Chocolate has health benefits – flavonoids in chocolate can keep blood vessels supple and reduced formation of free radicals. There’s more – follow this link:
After a day of delicious wine tastings and exquisite food on our Mornington Peninsula winery tour, we now head back to Melbourne, returning via Arthur’s Seat lookout with its stunning views of Port Phillip Bay.
Please note that due to timings, you may not always be able to visit all the wineries on the itinerary.
If you love gourmet food and fine wine, and a bit of exercise, our Nagambie wine tour is for you.
