We (Group of 4 friends) had a wonderful experience during the full day Nagambie Wine Tasting Tour. John was helpful and accommodating, letting us enjoy the trip at our own pace. The lunch was very good at the recommended restaurant. We will remember this trip and will tell our other friends about this trip and the company. Thank you.
Your journey begins from the Nagambie waters sports centre, to our first winery Mitchelton Winery.
The network of lakes and lagoons of the Nagambie Lakes area result in a cooler climate than that of surrounding areas – adding a distinctive regional character to the wines produced.
As we embark on our Nagambie wine tour, you will see Mitchelton’s famous tower. Here you can taste the wines of Mitchelton, which include Mitchelton’s famous Victorian Range Shiraz, Viognier and Blackwood Park Riesling.
Next we travel through stunning vineyards to our second winery, Tahbilk Winery.
Established in 1860, the award winning Tahbilk winery is considered one of Australia’s most beautiful and historic wineries with a 1,214 hectares estate that includes 11 kms of picturesque Goulburn River frontage.
The vineyard itself includes rare French Rhone Valley whites of Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne vines, as well as the Rhone reds – Shiraz, Grenache & Mourvedre. Also planted are the traditional varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc & Verdelho, and newer varieties—Tempranillo and Savagnin.
At Tahblik Winery you will enjoy a delicious gourmet lunch at the Riverside Café before deciding whether you would like to enjoy a 4km ecotrail walk, taste wines in the historic winery and enjoy a cellar door self-guided tour, or visit the estate museum (by appointment – request this in your booking).
After a wonderful visit here, our tour takes you to our third winery, Fowles Wine, via Avenel, a quaint historic town.
This showcase winery was built in 2000 and features a barrel hall with over 1000 wine barrels. Fowles Wine is situated in the Strathbogie Ranges.
Fowles Wine grow many varieties of vines, such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and many more. Labels to watch out includeStone Dwellers, Are You Game and Ladies who Shoot Their Lunch – fabulous names for very interesting flavours.
Fowles Wine feature “vibrant, plump and peppery” Shiraz, while their Cabernet Merlot is described as having aromas of “rum and raising, red fruits and spice, with blackcurrant and cranberries.”
Our Wine & Food Lovers’ Tours Nagambie winery tour concludes with a leisurely drive back to Melbourne taking in the stunning views of the North-eastern Victorian countryside via the Hume Highway.
This itinerary is not suitable for those with mobility conditions.**
Please note that due to timings, you may not always be able to visit all the wineries on the itinerary.
You can even consider our Yarra Valley winery tours where you can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the landscape and enchanting vineyards. Tour along the Yarra Valley Cider and Ale trail, taste the best of the regions beer, ciders and sparkling wines.
